Is it possible to reduce your carbon footprint by simply increasing your daily physical activity? The Paris Accord emphasizes that we need to curb emissions output throughout society, and increasing our own physical activity is a great way to start. Join Dr. Robin Mellecker, PhD and Health & Fitness Research Consultant, for a breakfast session to discuss the idea of sustainable physical activity and exercise habits. What is "sustainable physical activity", how do we engage in these habits, and what are the possible effects on ourselves as individuals and as part of society? In addition to a lively, research-based discussion, Robin will also guide participants through action steps to improve everyday habits which lead to a more sustainable, healthy life. Tickets include breakfast and coffee. About Robin: A passionate and high energy research consultant with over 10 years of research experience in health and wellness, Dr. Robin Mellecker received her PhD at the Institute of Human Performance, University of Hong Kong. Following her studies, Dr. Mellecker joined her alma mater and worked as a post-doctorate fellow for 5 years. She continues to reach out to the research community and engage in evidence based research activities in her roles as an Honorary Assistant Professor at Hong Kong University and as an editorial board member for the Clinics in Mother and Child Health Journal. Robin’s latest initiative “Motivating Women to Move” is designed to engage women in regular physical activity. Robin has completed multiple mountain marathons and numerous other competitive sports events. Her participation in sports and exercise, coupled with her educational background and work experience, gives her a unique insight into the complexity and struggles of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
